A detailed case history is taken, with details of the injury or change in behaviour and an impression of the animal's exercise pattern and general lifestyle.

Equine Sports Massage

Sports massage was developed for sports, where anything less than maximum efficiency is considered a problem and the precursor to potentially serious injury. Equine Sports Massage works effectively alongside McTimoney physical therapy to ensure that the animals body is best able to maintain the correct skeletal structural alignment to enable it's muscles, ligaments and tendons to work to their full potential. Sports massage works on the soft tissues to help relieve muscle spasm and tension, improving flexability and suppleness and maintaining muscle tone.

 Stress Point Therapy

This is a deep tissue massage technique, which is able to target specific points of muscle spasm. It is a very effective technique at relieving tension and stiffness. Using this technique enables the therapist to identify and treat points of spasm in the muscle thus making it an ideal therapy for preventing the development of major problems from minor injuries. Its specificity also makes treatment highly effective in relieving more serious muscle strain

McTimoney

The McTimoney technique aligns and balances the animal's musculoskeletal system. By manipulating any misaligned joints throughout the whole body, with special attention to the spine and pelvis, it helps both to restore and maintain health, soundness and performance. Mctimoney practitioners are trained to work closely with your vet to ensure that your animal receives the best and most appropriate care

Aftercare

Full information is given, tailored to each individual animal; this can include schooling exercises, gentle massage techniques and stretching exercises. The animal may require several treatments, depending on the nature of its injury, and it is recommended that animals receive regular check-ups to help maintain optimum performance and health as a preventative measure.

NOTE: An owner must always consult their veterinary surgeon BEFORE seeking treatment as it is illegal for anyone to treat an animal without a veterinary surgeon's approval. Most vets are aware of the benefits of complementary treatments for animals and will readily give their permission for the animal to be treated
